The Wedgie maker

Check this out. I've never seen anything like this before. It's Lionel Taylors jersey. Lionel Taylor of the Bears, Broncos and Oilers 59-68. It's part of the exhibit of items related to the 50th anniversary of the inagural AFL season. I'm assuming its a Broncos jersey since his other stops were short stints at the beginning and end of his career. The man was a Bronco. (thanks to my ESPN Pro Football Encyclopedia, second edition, foreward by Ron Jaworski for supplying that info quickly and efficiently)

This looks a lot like the "onesie" I put on my infant son every day. The kind that has the three little snaps at the bottom making it easy to change diapers.

On one hand I can surely see the utilitty and reasoning behind having a jersey built in such a manner. I can't tell if it connects to the back of the jersey in some way or if it's just a tail. If it's only a tail, is it the same at the back of the jersey? One can imagine that, if connected it would make it harder for defenders to get a hold or keep a hold on it but for someone with a strong grip, I would think anyone wearing this might wind up with a serious wedgie.

On the other hand if it's just a tail, I suppose it would minimize the tendency of the jersey to bunch up inside the wearers pants. Either way I love it just because it's different. It appears to have three quarter sleeves and that's another big plus in my book.

Questions, comments? No? Then let's move along.

The July 1 uniform reporting date is coming up. According to the NFL rulebook Rule 5, Section 4, Article 2, page 59, "Team Colors".... Before July 1 each year home clubs are required to report to the league office their choice of jersey color (either white or official team color) for their home games of that forthcoming season.(including postseason in the event that the club should become a host for such a game), and visiting clubs must wear the opposite. For preseason regular season or postseason, the two competing teams may wear jerseys in their official colors (non-white), provided the commisioner determines that such colors are of sufficient contrast.

Well, we already know a lot of the uniform choices from our intrepid correspondents, moles at league headquarters and Uniwatch, but any changes or vaccillating will have to happen soon since in about 3 weeks the honho's must have the decisions.

(Thanks to my copy of the Official Rules of the NFL for that info. I've been living for the day I could cite chapter and verse from it for some fashion related issue.... check! ) I've always wanted to do that because it reminds me of F Troop, the way Captain Parmenter would read from the Army manual to Sargeant O'Rourke and Agarn when putting a speed bump in the way of one of their wacky schemes. Ahhh, I love the cheap, predictable plot set ups of the old sitcoms.

Editors Note:

In response to the media outcry and screams of glaring omission, conflict of interest, etc etc that have flooded the lines and crashed our servers here at Football Fashion Fanatics headquarters we feel compelled to issue the following statement.

Our own Giantman/Oilerman/Titanman/Fashion commisioner was in no way implicated or involved in the Super fan scandal we broke the story on a few weeks back. Kudo's to Rich for keeping his nose clean and being among the few Super fans out there that the kids can still look up to.

Just look at that majestic pose... bask in the glow of the "down to the last detail" accuracy. Now there's a paragon of middle aged overweight super fan virtue for you right there. Not to mention impeccable Football Fashion sense.

Giant man is available at a reasonable fee for childrens birthday celebrations and bachelorette parties contact his agent... me. And once a price has been agreed upon, you pay me and I pay him, minus my fee of course. So once Giant man arrives at your event, ix-nay the iscussion-day about the amount of the ee-fay. Knowwhaddamean?

In other news we here at HQ are reving up the phone lines and will start this very evening to attempt to find a actual locker room tailor from an NFL team to ask the burning fashion questions that need to be answered. If you have any questions you would like answered mail them to me at kens_cash@hotmail.com and I will get them answered.
